FURNITURE LOVE

Furniture is another interest that's with me since college. I even got a specialization in furniture design. In my former activity as an Architect I often was asked to make a piece or so to decorate and refurbish apartments. In bigger projects, like house planning, I worked out the space planning the interior with special care to the furniture design and built-in cabinets. It's a very interesting process, to fill in a home fitting the needs of a specific family.
Because of my preferably and taste on furniture. I've been collecting pieces, not physically though. I would like to share a few of my findings with you. I hope it inspires you.

The weekend is approaching. I was wondering... probably the rain will stop you from going outside. The last thing I want is that you get bored. So here's some ideas to keep your hands busy while weather invites you to stay indoors. I bet that on Monday you home will be much cosier and ready for Valentine. Enjoy!

DIY IKEA

I often fall in love with expensive furniture. Let's say, I have an expensive taste most of the times. However, my home doesn't have more than IKEA cheapest pieces. And to be honest, I guess it's better this way. You see... I like to change things every time I get bored. It would be craziness to throw away a £1000 piece of top design now and then. So I keep inventing and re-inventing my style with IKEA and a few details that can be a bit over budget.
Because of that I'm always on the Ebay or looking across the IKEA catalog or even searching on Pinterest for what to do with unwanted IKEAs to get them more interesting or so.
That was how I came across with these awesome IKEA hacks that I'm sharing with you today.

THE HORSE!

Last Friday was the first day of the Chinese new year. The year of the Horse has begun! Here's a few curiosities about what to expect of this year and from people born on a the year of the horse. I thought it would be interesting, to illustrate this post and give inspiration, attach beautiful finds from Etsy, as this is the first post of 2014 too ;)
People born in the year of the horse are said to be a bit like horses: animated, active and energetic – they love being in a crowd. They are independent with a straightforward and positive attitude towards life. They are known for their communication skills and are exceedingly witty.
People who was born in the year of the horse, should be looking for potential partners who were born in the years of the tiger, goat or dog. Avoid those born in the year of the rat, ox, rabbit or horse. You won't like them.
According to superstition, in your zodiac year you will offend Tai Sui, the god of age, and will experience bad luck for the whole year. To avoid this you should wear something red, which has been given to you by someone else. Don't tell that I didn't warn you!
In general, the lucky colours of team horse are green, red and purple; the lucky numbers are three, four and nine, and the lucky flowers are giant taro and jasmine. So... if you are a horse don't forget your numbers on your bets!

Have a great year of the horse!
Have an awesome 2014!

Changing the craft room... again!!!

We decided to change the craft room because it was a bit narrow. We changed the tables disposition and the room looked wider, with space to put more storage. Then we decided to paint the nursery. The nursery is continuous to the craft room, so at least we had to paint one wall of the craft room to fit with the new colours of the nursery. Well... at the end we decided to paint the 3 other walls in white, to make better use of the natural light. So, we are updating the craft room... again!!! New look, new decoration and a few more storage.
After the craft room we will be decorating the nursery...

Spice up your dinner, lunch or snack.

New placemat in store... do not miss it. It's one of a kind and it was made to make you feel in love when you're eating your meal all alone. Do not feel lonely anymore, visit our Etsy shop.

Back again

After a few days without internet, totally busy unpacking, cleaning and organizing the house. And now here I am doing nothing. I have back ache, kidneys ache and my belly is getting bigger day after day.
It is almost time to see what my little bean has been doing inside me but until then I really have to rest, which is why I have been a bit absent of my work. It has been difficult to be sit down for long "driving" my sewing machine, hopefully it wont be for much longer at least the unpacking is finished. I couldn't stand more boxes around me!

My craft room is almost done, just a few details are missing, maybe what is the most important to make the place plesant and inspiring. Soon you will see.

Making a House a Home and a Room a Craft Room

New house doesn't mean new home. It takes time to transform a House into a Home but with some work, care and love it is getting done. The downstairs has already been tidy and now it is time to do what it takes to make a cosy office/craft room. This place it will be where I will spend most of the day working and creating, it must be practical, but it must be mine!

Tomorrow I am going to buy two top tables and its legs. I need one desk to prepar things and another to sew and maybe to have my PC. I have already got a built in closet where I can organize all my fabrics, craft books, etc and some drawers to put those small things like tools, documents and so on.
With this all tidy and some small details to inspire I will have a tiny but good place to work.

I am anxious to start working again.
